Dr. Belén Lledó presents research on reproductive genetics at the PGDIS 2025 International Congress

Instituto Bernabeu was present at the International Congress of the Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis International Society (PGDIS), one of the most important events worldwide in the field of preimplantation genetic diagnosis. Dr. Belén Lledó, scientific director of Instituto Bernabeu Biotech, was in charge of representing the group with a research presentation.

The study, entitled ‘Paternal contribution to interchromosomal effects (ICE) in reciprocal translocations: Insights from PGT-SR’, explores how reciprocal translocations in males can generate interchromosomal effects (ICE), i.e. an increased risk of aneuploidy in chromosomes not directly involved in the translocation. This line of research contributes new knowledge to the understanding of genetic mechanisms that may influence embryo viability and the success of fertility treatments.

Dr. Lledó highlighted the importance of taking into account the paternal contribution in genetic studies during assisted reproduction treatments, especially when applying techniques such as PGT-SR (Preimplantational Genetic Test for Structural Rearrangements).

The congress, held this year in the Belgian city of Leuven, brought together scientists, clinicians and embryology specialists from the five continents, promoting the exchange of knowledge and the latest advances in reproductive genetics.

Instituto Bernabeu’s participation in this international forum reaffirms its commitment to cutting-edge research and continuous improvement in genetic diagnosis applied to reproductive medicine.
