Dr Alicia Herencia participates in the19th edition of the La Calahorra Forum on Reproduction.

The specialist in Gynaecology and Obstetrics presented the advances in the treatment of patients with low ovarian reserve.

Dr Alicia Herencia, specialist in Gynaecology and Obstetrics at Instituto Bernabeu, participated as a speaker at the La Calahorra Forum 19th edition, organised by the Virgen de las Nieves University Hospital (Granada) Reproduction Unit. Her intervention focused on the advances in polymorphisms in FSH and LH hormone receptors, a relevant topic for the optimisation of treatments in patients with low ovarian reserve.

Dr Herencia’s talk was relevant during the course of the forum, as IBBiotech has been a pioneer in studies on this topic at national and European level. The aim, she said, is to ‘move towards a more personalised medicine’.

The specialist explained that the analysis of these polymorphisms allows the design of stimulation protocols adjusted to the specific needs of each patient, a key strategy to improve the treatment efficacy.

‘The aim is to try to make stimulation treatments increasingly personalised, which is especially useful in women with low ovarian reserve,‘ explained Dr Herencia, who also pointed out that ‘this is one of the tools available to try to ‘fight’ these cases and optimise the results as each oocyte counts’.

The Calahorra Forum is a national benchmark in the field of Reproduction and its objective is to update knowledge and promote multidisciplinary debate on issues related to infertility and assisted reproduction treatments, with the aim of improving patient care and optimising results. More than a hundred specialists in this field take part of the event each year.
