Dr José Antonio Ortiz
Bachelor´s Degree in Chemistry specialized in Biochemistry, from Universidad de Barcelona. He completed his doctoral thesis at the Department of Molecular Biology of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the same University. During 1997-2000 he carried out a postdoctoral stay (Marie Curie Fellowship) at IGBMC in Strasbourg (France). His work during this period focuses on the study of the mechanisms of action of steroid hormone receptors. On his retrun to Spain in 2000, he joined the Universidad Miguel Hernández y as a researcher in the Programme “Ramón y Cajal”. In 2006 he started working at Instituto Bernabeu Biotech. He recently completed his training with a Master´s Degree in “Statistics in Health Sciences” at Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona and a Master´s Degree in “Big Data and Data Science” at the UNED (2020)
He is a Lecturer of the Master’s Degree in Reproductive Medicine at the University of Alicante.
In 2012, he was awarded the 2nd American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) prize for the best poster at the Congress.
He is also an appraiser of ANEP projects and various research agencies of Autonomous Communities.
During his scientific career he has published more than 40 articles in international journals in the field of Molecular Biology and Human Genetics.
His current interest are focused on the study of polymorphisms and genetic variants associated with fertility (mainly low ovarian response ), pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGT-A and PGT-M) and the design of predictive models of artificial intelligence (machine learning) applied to reproductive medicine.
