Dr Rafael Bernabeu has been appointed Vice-President of the Sterility and Infertility Section of the SEGO.

Dr Rafael Bernabeu, Medical Director of the Instituto Bernabeu Group, has been appointed Vice-President of the Executive Board of the Sterility and Infertility Section of the Spanish Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics (S.E.I.S.E.G.O.) for this year.

The objective of this area of work, under the presidency of Dr Koldo Carbonero, is to reinforce the connection between gynaecologists and fertility specialists, serving as a guide for the 9,000 gynaecologists who belong to the SEGO and who treat patients with problems of sterility and infertility on a daily basis.

This distinction in recognition of the quality of his professionalism complements those already received after 36 years of dedication to gynaecology, including: the award granted by the General Council of Professional Associations of Spain in 2014 in recognition of his professional career; the research prize from the Spanish Fertility Society in 2000 and in 2010; a second prize from the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) for the best conference poster in 2012, among others.

Dr Bernabeu has published more than 150 research studies in prestigious national and international reproductive medicine journals such as Human Reproduction, Fertility and Sterility, Reproductive Biomedicine Online, Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics, Histology and Histopathology, Ebioforum Europe, among others. In addition, he has given more than 200 speeches at congresses, both national and international.
