What does informativity testing involve? Does informativity have to be tested at every cycle?
An informativity study is a step that is taken prior to performing a PGT-M. It is needed following a genetic test to determine which abnormality in a gene is the cause of an illness. It consists of developing the safest possible strategy for identifying the abnormality in embryos generated by the couple. The study often involves healthy and affected members of both families.
Informativity studies are specific to each fertility clinic and must be performed even if the couple already has another informativity study from another clinic.
However, the results do not change from one cycle to the next and, as such, it only needs to be performed once before beginning the cycle and does not need to be repeated.
