Vaak gestelde vragen

Healthy diet prior to pregnancy

A qualitatively sufficient diet should include dairy (milk, yoghurt, etc.), fruit and vegetables as well as carbohydrates (vegetables, pasta, rice, bread, cereals, etc.) proteins and fats.

Dairy foods are important for their contribution in calcium and fat soluble vitamins (vitamin D) necessary to ensure optimal bone health of both the mother and potential future child.

The importance of fruit and vegetables is their contribution of antioxidant substances such as fat-soluble vitamins (A, C and E).

The carbohydrate group is important for their plant protein and represent the main source of energy.

The healthiest proteins are vegetable or fish versus meat.

Fats should be healthy ones (olive oil, fish, nuts).

In general you should avoid sweets and sugars (sugar-sweetened drinks), bakery products, fried foods and sauces (mayonnaise, ketchup, etc.) and red meat.

We recommend not eating rich dishes as it is preferable to boil, steam or grill instead of frying or deep frying.
