Where do the donated embryos come from?
The embryos donated come from couples of proven fertility who have undergone previous treatments of Assisted Reproduction. After successfully completing their desire to become parents, voluntarily decide to donate the remaining embryos, should they exist. They may also come from cycles of double donation, that is to say cycles where both an egg donor and a sperm donor were used.
In the later situation, at Instituto Bernabeu we have an added advantage to our embryo adoption programme, and it is that previously we carry out the Genetic Compatibility Test (GCT) , which allows is to rule out more than 600 or 2500 recessive hereditary diseases, which results in a higher pregnancy rate an greater peace of mind regarding the health of any future child.
