I have a thyroid problem: Should I consult with my doctor with a view to a future pregancy? Will I have to change my treatment? Will I be able to breastfeed my baby? Will my baby have any problems?
Any woman with thyroid problems must consult with a doctor in advance of becoming pregnant to optimise her treatment. During pregnancy, her treatment will have to be adapted. Breastfeeding is not contraindicated. If correctly monitored, the baby will not suffer any negative effects. Only in a few cases special monitoring is necessary.
