“Walking is just a verb”: Instituto Bernabeu hosts a talk, in collaboration with ADECCO Foundation, by Paralympic athlete Carmen Giménez.

Paralympic athlete Carmen Giménez visited yesterday the Instituto Bernabeu centre in Alicante where she gave a motivational talk entitled “Walking is just a verb” for the entire clinic’s staff team, and which was also broadcast live to all the Group’s centres.
Carmen Giménez suffered an episode of gender violence which caused her a spinal cord injury and was forced to live in a wheelchair. Years later she suffered another blow with the loss of her son Bruno in a premature birth. It was then that she decided to take refuge in sport, becoming a Spanish champion in adapted athletics and launching the #RunforBruno initiative, which helps people who need adapted equipment for sport.
This talk is part of the ADECCO Foundation’s “Encounters for diversity” initiative, which also aims to “reinforce commitment to help people who has additional difficulties to access the labour market”, according to Juan Pablo Martínez, ADECCO’s area coordinator, who thanked Instituto Bernabeu for its involvement. In this sense, Instituto Bernabeu’s Human Resources Director, Belén Castellano, pointed out in the event’s welcome speech that “the mission of this company includes creating a place of coexistence and respect for all”, so “we consider it very important to know testimonies such as those of Carmen Giménez, which brings us closer to reality and enrich us as individuals”.
