Dr Juan Carlos Castillo takes over the Instituto Bernabeu’s scientific direction as head of continuous training

Dr Juan Carlos Castillo, gynaecologist at Instituto Bernabeu and a key player in the care of international patients, has just been appointed scientific director of Instituto Bernabeu, responsible for the continuous training of the institution’s team. This new responsibility is for Dr Castillo «a colossal duty and an honourable privilege and satisfaction».

The specialist has highlighted the Instituto Bernabeu’s trajectory and commitment in the field of medical research, which is highly recognised, and which has received awards such as the three recent prizes awarded this May by the Spanish Fertility Society (SEF) at its 33rd congress for scientific studies and the special mention for other research. Instituto Bernabeu gives great importance to the continuous training of its specialists and an example of this is the weekly scientific sessions in which IB specialists discuss complex clinical cases. Its continuous presence at congresses and forums related to reproductive medicine held all over the world is noteworthy.

One of Dr Castillo’s goals is to maintain and enhance this presence in the most important scientific forums and the continued research development to benefit patient care. Among his aims is to «enhance the innate abilities of those with an inclination for research and ignite the spark» and to motivate those who do not have this tendency. Dr Castillo adds that «we will collaborate with the R&D department in the design, assignment and monitoring of research projects of major scientific interest». And to take advantage of the potential of new social communication tools such as Twitter or WhatsApp in the continuous training of doctors. «The goal is to achieve excellence in providing the best care to our patients under a firm commitment that this is based on the best medical evidence available,» affirmed Dr Juan Carlos Castillo.
